Psalm 1 Sing to the tune of the classic hymn: “How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds” How blessed is the state of him Who lives a godly life, Who walks not in the sinner’s path, Nor sits with men of strife. He seeks not counsel from a man But studies day and night The great commandments of the Lord. They are his chief delight. He shall be planted like a tree Beside the flowing stream That bears its fruit as seasons pass, Whose leaf is ever green. That man is honored by His God; In him God’s mercies dwell. Whatever things he undertakes, God makes them prosper well. In contrast to the godly man, The wicked who have sinned Will not be blest, but disappear Like chaff before the wind. Ungodly men shall surely face A judgment without grace. They will not stand with righteous men Before God’s holy face. God knows the path of righteousness In which the godly walk. He knows the path of wicked men Will surely come to naught. TUNE: St. Peter C.M. Alexander R. Reinagle

Psalm 23 Sing to the tune of the classic hymn: “How Shall the Young Direct Their Way?” Amazing comfort in God’s Word: My shepherd is the mighty Lord. Because He owns me as His sheep From ev’ry want my soul He’ll keep. And in the greenest pastureland I daily rest beneath His hand. Each day to waters sweet and still He leads me by His sovereign will. When I was weak, new strength He gave. When I was lost, He came to save. He ever leads me in His way, And close beside me He will stay. In righteous paths my course I take. He leads me there for His own sake. Through ev’ry valley dark and deep, He ever guards His precious sheep. I fear no evil on my way, For He is near me and will stay. His rod and staff, they both shall be A daily guide to comfort me. Prepared before my meanest foe To table feast I often go. Quite surely there I find I’m blessed And safely in His presence rest. With oils sweet He honors me. He blesses me abundantly. His mercies to me never cease. Full cups of blessing still increase. Surely His goodness all my days Shall follow me in all my ways. Till in the house prepared for me With my own Shepherd I will be.
